NFC North injury report: Devin Hester, Kyle Rudolph suffer concussions in Week 12

Sunday’s game between the Vikings and Bears featured a number of injuries to key contributors on both teams.

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

Sunday's game between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears was arguably as notable for the number of important players injured on both teams as it was for Chicago's 28-10 victory. The Bears, winners of an important division battle that put their season back on track, saw Devin Hester, Matt Forte, Lance Briggs and Lance Louis all leave the game with injuries, while the Vikings lost both Kyle Rudolph and Harrison Smith during the game.

Hester left the game on Sunday with a concussion and did not return. WIth Alshon Jeffery and Dane Sanzenbacher out, Chicago is already depleted at receiver, and there likely won't be any word until later in the week regarding Hester's availability for Week 13. Forte suffered an injury to his right ankle in the third quarter, limped off the field and didn't return. The team has not updated his status, but the injury is to the same ankle that caused Forte to miss a game earlier in the season.

Briggs, Chicago’s top linebacker, left Soldier Field on Sunday in a walking boot, though he didn’t miss any game time. His status going forward is also unknown. Louis, the team’s starting right guard, will undergo an MRI on his knee on Monday, and his status moving forward is also in doubt.

Meanwhile, both Rudolph and Smith suffered concussions for the Vikings. Smith, the team’s 2012 first-round pick, suffered his early in the third quarter, while Rudolph exited late in the fourth quarter with the Vikings already down 18 points. The status of both players has yet to be updated, and it should become clearer later in the week if they will be available for Week 13.

The Green Bay Packers were blown out by the New York Giants on Sunday night, and also lost a few players to injury. Running back Johnny White left the game with a concussion and defensive end C.J. Wilson suffered a right knee injury that forced him from the game. The Packers are already thin at both positions.

The Detroit Lions suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving Day, but escaped the game with no major injuries.
