The Buffalo Bills lost to the Indianapolis Colts, 20-13, on Sunday. The defeat dropped Buffalo's record to 4-7, but there were some positive takeaways. As SB Nation's Buffalo Rumblings noted afterward, the Bills' defense put together a solid performance against an Indianapolis offense that has been good this season:

The Buffalo Bills dropped their Week 12 game against Indianapolis on Sunday, but it wasn’t the fault of their defense.

Buffalo shut down the Indianapolis Colts. It might not seem so, as we fans get mad during the game, but consider the outcome of the Colts' drives. Indy had 10 offensive possessions during the game, not counting a T.Y. Hilton punt return touchdown. They scored 13 points on three drives, and ended the game on another. That's not bad considering the Colts average over 26 points per game. All Colts averages were below their normal output.
The Colts are fifth in the NFL with an average of 386 total yards per game; against Buffalo, they managed just 312. They were also limited to 4.5 yards per play by the Bills, which is nearly a yard below their season average.
Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck threw for 265 yards, but he was sacked four times, and the Bills were able to limit the Colts to 87 yards rushing.
But the Bills offense, which is No. 17 in total yards per game, was not able to come up with enough points in support of the defense. They didn't find the endzone until a fourth quarter touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Lee Smith.
