New England Patriots defensive end Jermaine Cunningham has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's performance enhancing drug policy, according to an announcement made by the league on Monday afternoon.
Patriots DE Jermaine Cunningham suspended for PED violation
Jermaine Cunningham has been suspended four games for a PED violation.

Cunningham is the third member of the Patriots to test positive for PEDs this season, joining teammates Brandon Bolden (suspended in November) and Aqib Talib, who tested positively while still a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The suspension will begin immediately as he has already gone through the appeal process. He will be allowed to return to the Patriots' active roster on Dec. 24, following the team's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Dec. 23.
Cunningham was originally selected with the No. 53 overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Patriots. After recording only one tackle in nine games last season, Cunningham has recorded 23 tackles and two fumble recoveries in 11 games played (two starts) this season.
