Charles Tillman injury: Bears CB has chipped bone in foot

Charles Tillman left Sunday’s game with an injury to his right foot, but he could be back as early as this week.

Chicago Bears' cornerback Charles Tillman has a chipped bone in his right foot, according to the Chicago Tribune. The veteran defensive back exited the Bears-Vikings game on Sunday after it appeared that Rhett Ellison stepped on Tillman's foot. Tillman attempted to return, but was quickly pulled back off the field.

He left the game walking in a boot, and the Bears originally reported it as an ankle injury. The injury is not expected to be serious, and Tillman could play this week against the Seattle Seahawks. If he is unable to go, Kelvin Hayden would fill in. Tillman has not missed a game since 2009.

Tillman has been a key part of the stingy Bears defense all season. With 58 tackles, two interceptions (both returned for touchdowns), and seven forced fumbles, many consider him a candidate for defensive player of the year.

Chicago has allowed just 15.9 points per game, which is second-best in the NFL. They also have returned seven interceptions back for touchdowns, which is by far the most in the league.
