Ben Roethlisberger injury: Steelers QB will be ‘eased’ into practice

The two-time Pro Bowler is coming back from shoulder and rib injuries.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will "ease" quarterback Ben Roethlisberger back into practice Wednesday, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

La Canfora said in a tweet: "Many still expect he will play" Sunday against the rival Baltimore Ravens.

Roethlisberger has been out since Week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs with a dislocated rib and a sprained throwing shoulder. Roethlisberger was 9-for-18 for 84 yards and a touchdown before he left the Steelers' 16-13 overtime win against the Chiefs.

With Roethlisberger out, the team has relied on second- and third-string quarterbacks Byron Leftwich and Charlie Batch. Leftwhich started Week 11 against the Ravens, but also suffered an injury. The team was forced to turn to Batch for Sunday's game against the Browns, which the Steelers lost, 20-14.

The Steelers are 0-2 without Roethlisberger. They’ve scored just 24 points in two games without the two-time Pro Bowler.

The Steelers (6-5) travel to play the Ravens (9-2) at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday.
