Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh received a $30,000 fine from the NFL for kicking Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin during last week's game, Anwar Richardson of MLive reports. The lineman won't be suspended by the league for the incident, as it announced earlier this week.

Intentional or not, Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh received a $30,000 fine from the NFL for kicking Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin during last week’s game.

While the third-year pro insists that his foot “inadvertently hit” Schaub in the groin while he was falling to the ground, Suh has a history of suspensions and fines for plays perceived as dirty or illegal by the league office. The league said earlier this week that Suh’s history would be a factor in the team’s review of the incident with Schaub.
The NFL ultimately decided not to suspend Suh for the play, likely because it’s not entirely obvious whether he actually did intend to hit Schaub or not. His past history did appear to be enough to warrant a substantial fine, though, putting the lineman back five figures for his alleged mistake.
Over the past three years, Suh has now been fined for a total of $77,500 by the league. Combined with the lost pay from his two-game suspension last year, he’s now lost a grand total of $243,147 in salary due to his on-field behavior.
