Rob Gronkowski injury: Patriots TE ruled out for Week 13

The Patriots will be without half of their tight end duo once again this weekend.

David Butler II-US PRESSWIRE

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will not play when the team faces Miami in Week 13, according to Shalize Young of the Boston Globe. Gronkowski also missed the Patriots' last game against the New York Jets. Gronk broke his forearm in Week 10 against Indianapolis, and had surgery to repair the damage shortly thereafter. It appears his recovery will take at least another week.

Gronkowski had been putting up huge numbers again before sustaining the injury. Through 10 games, he had already caught 53 passes for 748 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 71 percent catch rate makes him a reliable target for quarterback Tom Brady, especially in the red zone.

The Patriots have been without either Gronkowski or their other stud tight end, Aaron Hernandez, for much of the season. Hernandez is still battling an ankle injury, but did see action against the Jets. He will likely see a few more balls thrown his way without Gronkowski in the lineup.
