Adrian Peterson Strikes First In Battle Of The Backs

Minnesota Vikings great Adrian Peterson strikes first against the Seahawks in battle of the top two running backs in the NFL.

Not only are both the Seattle Seahawks and the Minnesota Vikings in position to make runs at the post season, but they both have the top two running backs when it comes to total rushing yards in the NFL. Coming into this game, Adrian Peterson, who suffered a nasty knee injury late last season, was leading the NFL with 775 yards and Marshawn Lynch of the Seahawks was second with 757, and both backs are on pace for over 300 attempts.

Well, when it comes to the battle of the backs, Adrian Peterson was the first to strike. In the Vikings’ first possession of the game, Peterson ran the ball 80 yards and scored a touchdown. Starting at their own 20, Peterson carried on first down for five yards and then on second down for 74 yards all the way down to the Seahawks one-yard line. And of course, who else would the Vikings give the ball to when they’re on the one other than Peterson, who scored on the next play.

The Vikings lead the Seahawks, whose 12th man has been slightly silenced, in Seattle on Sunday afternoon thanks to Peterson.

Now it’s Lynch’s turn to show us what he can do.
