Apparently Nathan Burris really was ready for some football. Burris is currently on trial in California for allegedly murdering his ex-girlfriend and her male friend, with a guilty verdict potentially resulting in the death penalty. Burris is representing himself and has tried to plead guilty since day one of the trial, only to be denied each time. State law requires capital murder suspects get a defense lawyer’s consent if they are going to plead guilty.
‘I did it,’ says murder defendant who just wants to watch football
Murder defendant Nathan Burris apparently really wanted to get back to his cell for Monday Night Football. So much so that he had no problem proclaiming his guilt during cross-examination.

On Monday, while being cross-examined by the prosecutor, Burris tried to push the process along (h/t Deadspin) so he could get back in time for the 5:30 p.m. PT start of Monday Night Football. During the cross-examination, Burris proclaimed his guilt:
“I did it. So what? ... No remorse, no regrets, no mercy. ... You want me to draw it out in crayon?”
The prosecutor subsequently was asking Burris a variety of questions he felt was wasting his time. His response?
“This isn’t Sesame Street,” Burris said, referring to the jury. “They [the jury] get it, bro.”
