Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman told the world Thursday morning that his wife expects to give birth to their daughter on Monday, and he plans to play in Sunday's game against the Houston Texans.

Earlier in the week, the Bears faced the possibility of playing without Tillman, who planned to be with his wife when she gave birth. Controversy swirled around the news when Pro Football Talk editor Mike Florio publicly criticized decision to miss the game.
My position was and is that the players have made a lifestyle choice that entails being available 16 days per year, no matter what. If they choose not to plan their nine-month family expansion activities to coincide with the eight months per year when their work activities don’t entail playing games that count, why should their teams suffer the consequences?
Tillman’s teammates, the media and fans rallied to his defense in the wake of PFT’s ginned up controversy.
Peanut Tillman is making a solid case for the league’s Defensive Player of the Year. He leads the NFL with seven forced fumbles. He also has a pair of interceptions and two defensive touchdowns as part of a dominant Chicago defense that’s limiting opponents to an average of just 15 points per game.
