Kansas City Police Department spokesman Darin Snapp provided some of the details surrounding the tragic murder-suicide involving Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher. Snapp said that when police arrived on scene at the residence of Belcher and his girlfriend, a woman came outside stating that her daughter had been shot by her boyfriend several times inside the home.

As has been reported, Belcher then went to the Chiefs facilities at Arrowhead Stadium, where he was met in the parking lot by Scott Pioli and Romeo Crennel. The spokesman relayed the interaction in the parking lot:
“The coaches said when he pulled up, they were never in danger. He never threatened them or anything. They talked for a little bit, and that’s when he shot himself.”

Snapp did reveal that the couple “had been arguing in the past” but there had been no calls for police service out at the residence where the shooting took place.
