Cam Cameron fired, replaced by Jim Caldwell

Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks coach and former Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell has been named Baltimore’s offensive coordinator, replacing Cam Cameron.

Mitch Stringer-US PRESSWIRE

Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell has been named the new offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Caldwell is replacing Cam Cameron, who was fired by the Ravens on Monday after spending more than four and a half seasons serving as Baltimore's offensive coordinator.

Caldwell served as Indianapolis’ head coach between 2009-2011 and led the Colts to the Super Bowl in his first season as head coach. Caldwell was fired after the Colts finished 2-14 in 2011 and was quickly hired to serve as Baltimore’s quarterbacks coach following his dismissal from Indianapolis.

Baltimore’s offense currently ranks in the middle of the league both in passing and rushing -- despite having one of the game’s most dynamic running backs in Ray Rice. The Ravens average just 235.5 yards per game passing (16th in the NFL), and just 108.8 yards per game rushing (17th in the NFL).

The Ravens will take on the Denver Broncos in Caldwell's first game as offensive coordinator, in what figures to be a crucial game for both teams in terms of playoff seeding.
