Mike Mularkey taken to hospital for tests for illness

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey was hospitalized on Monday because he felt sick at the Jaguars’ practice facility. What is his latest status?

Phil Sears-US PRESSWIRE

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey was taken to a Jacksonville hospital on Monday, because he did not feel well after arriving at the team's practice facility. Mularkey went to the training room shortly after, then was taken to Baptist Medical Center for further examination and tests. There is the possibility that he could be kept overnight for observation.

According to Ryan O’Halloran on Jacksonville.com, Mularkey’s regular weekly press conference will not occur because of his hospitalization, but defensive coordinator Mel Tucker will run the conference in his place starting at 2 p.m. EST.

ESPN NFL analyst Adam Schefter later reported that Mularkey should be okay after his hospitalization. The team does expect him to return to the facilities on Tuesday. Mularkey and the Jaguars fell to 2-11 on the season after Sunday's 17-10 loss to the New York Jets.

The Jaguars are now preparing to play the Miami Dolphins next Sunday at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Fla. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast on CBS.
