NFL injury report: Patriots CB Aqib Talib injures hip in victory

Patriots cornerback injures hip in second quarter of Monday’s night victory over the Houston Texans.

Jim Rogash

The New England Patriots were impressive in their 42-14 victory Monday night over the Houston Texans, but it may have come at a cost, as starting cornerback Aqib Talib left the contest with a hip injury and never returned.

Acquired in a trade Nov. 1, Talib was injured in the second quarter, and despite being seen on the sidelines looking active, never returned in the second half. The Patriots (10-3), though, may have been resting the defensive back as they had the game in hand.

It’s expected head coach Bill Belichick will give an update on Talib on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the rest of the AFC East is dealing with injuries as well.

The Buffalo Bills will be without starting running back Fred Jackson (knee) for the remainder of the season. Jackson was injured in Buffalo's 15-12 loss to the visiting St. Louis Rams.

The Bills (5-8) could also be without starting center Eric Wood (knee) for a second straight week. Cornerback Aaron Williams (knee) may make his return this week against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Jets (6-7) are still waiting to hear how bad the knee injury to wide receiver Stephen Hill will be. On Monday, head coach Rex Ryan did not have an update on the rookie, who should get back his MRI results Tuesday.

The Miami Dolphins (5-8) did not suffer any major injuries in their Week 14 loss, 27-13, to the San Francisco 49ers.
