The Pittsburgh Steelers suspended running back Rashard Mendenhall for one game for conduct detrimental to the team on Tuesday. Mendenhall did not show up at Heinz Field after being told he would not dress against the San Diego Chargers in Week 14 according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. To take Mendenhall's spot on the roster, the Steelers activated Baron Batch from the practice squad.

Mendenhall was a healthy scratch in both of the Steelers' last two games as he has been surpassed on the depth chart by Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman. Coach Mike Tomlin recently said he did not expect the running back rotation to change for the Steelers' upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Mendenhall missed the first three games of the season due to offseason ACL surgery, and then injured his Achilles on Oct. 11, causing him to miss the next four games.

Mendenhall has only appeared in four games this season, with 34 carries for 113 yards and 7 receptions for 61 yards and one touchdown. Dwyer leads the Steelers with 510 yards rushing and Redman has 350 on the season.
