Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson's season is over as the team put him on the non-football injury list for illness. Patterson has been dealing with a scary case of viral pneumonia, which caused him to miss the Eagles' Week 14 game against the Jaguars. Patterson was hospitalized last Thursday in advance of the game in Jacksonville.
Mike Patterson’s season is over with pneumonia
Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson was placed on the non-football injury list, effectively ending his season and leading to what will likely be a controversial pay cut.

As Bleeding Green Nation notes, there are also reports that Patterson’s pay from the team will take a hit as a result of the move. ProFootballTalk reports that Patterson will be docked roughly $150,000 as he finishes out the final three games of the season on the Non-Football Injury List. The pay cut will obviously not go over well with Patterson, who has spent his entire career with the Eagles’ organization.
Patterson, an eight-year defensive lineman out of USC, played in just five games this season. He tallied six total tackles and one sack. The Eagles will host the Cincinnati Bengals on short rest this week, playing on Thursday Night Football.
