NFL odds and lines Week 15: 49ers vs. Patriots

The oddmakers believe that the Patriots’ great offense will trump the 49ers’ stout defense in Week 15’s marquee game.

The San Francisco 49ers will make the long trip across the country to take on the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on Sunday night with the whole world watching. It will be an opportunity for both teams to test themselves against one another in a potential Super Bowl preview.

The Patriots’ home-field advantage and offensive firepower coupled with the superior point differential have the oddsmakers looking for New England to both win and cover the spread. According to OddsShark, they are favored by 5.5 points after the opening line was just 3.

That’s indicative of this game being a hard-fought contest that should go the Patriots’ way, and is also evidence that the 49ers are still a legitimate threat to the Patriots’ quest for NFL supremacy as they are believed to play within a touchdown of the prolific Patriots.

The game figures to be that of a playoff atmosphere as both the Niners and Patriots sit atop their respective divisions.

It’s a classic East vs. West battle where each team’s strength will be put to the test.

Points spread: New England -5.5

Over / Under: 47

Will they cover?: 63% of those polled via OddsShark believe new England will cover the spread
