David Wilson limited as Falcons blow out Giants

    Josh D. Weiss-USA TODAY Sports

Fantasy Impact: This was a disappointing game for owners who expected Wilson to excel in a starter’s role, but then again everyone on the Giants was disappointing on Sunday. Wilson did manage a decent yards per carry, but the Giants got behind big early and had to abandon the running game.

Tony Gonzalez finds the end zone

    Kevin C. Cox

Matt Ryan found Gonzalez on a 12-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter to put the Falcons up 14-0. Gonzalez has slowed down a bit in recent weeks, but showed on Sunday that he is still one of the most dangerous red zone targets in the league.

I don’t know if it’s the misinformed idea that Atlanta ‘isn’t a good sports town’ or that ‘Matt Ryan isn’t elite’ or ‘Michael Turner is old,’ or what, but I wouldn’t say Atlanta is any less a contender than other flawed teams like, say, San Francisco or Green Bay.

But consistency is the mother of proof (I think Winston Churchill said that). And arguably no tight end in the league has been more consistent over the last decade than Tony Gonzalez, who scores lots of touchdowns and dunks lots of footballs.

    Chris Trotman

Over at ESPN.com, five of the eight experts who have submitted picks are going with the Giants to notch the road win. Not included in those is the leading picker this year, Seth Wickersham, who is going with Atlanta.

At CBSSports.com, the experts pick against the spread, and six of those eight experts are going with the Giants, who are 1.5-point underdogs. The site’s top picker, Jason La Canfora, is one of those who is going with the Giants.
