Dallas Cowboys’ playoff hopes still intact

The Cowboys’ win over the Steelers on Sunday was huge, as it gave the team a chance to clinch a playoff berth by simply winning its final two games.

The Dallas Cowboys moved into a tie for first place in the NFC East after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime on Sunday. The Cowboys now control their own destiny; if they win out, they'll win the division and earn a playoff berth.

The Atlanta Falcons helped make that possible by dismantling the New York Giants earlier in the day. The Washington Redskins ensured they'll be in full control of their postseason fate, as well, with their blowout win over the Cleveland Browns.

Currently, the Redskins hold the tiebreaker and thus, are technically in sole possession of the top spot in the division. However, Dallas has a chance to unseat Washington from the throne in Week 17, marking the second straight season the Cowboys will play for a the NFC East title in the final week.

Elsewhere, the Minnesota Vikings moved into the final playoff spot in the NFC by virtue of their win over the St. Louis Rams combined with the Giants' loss. The Vikings hold the tiebreaker over the Cowboys due to a better winning percentage in conference games, while the Cowboys have the edge over the Giants because of a stronger record against NFC East opponents.

The Green Bay Packers cemented their spot in the postseason with a victory over the Chicago Bears. The Packers are champions of the NFC North, while the Bears fell out of a playoff spot for now. However, the Bears are currently the first team out due to their win over the Cowboys earlier in the season.
