Giants vs. Falcons, Week 15: Matt Ryan leads Atlanta past New York

Reaction from SB Nation’s Atlanta Falcons blog after Atlanta blew out the New York Giants, 34-0, on Sunday and improved to 12-2 on the year.

The Atlanta Falcons rolled over the New York Giants on Sunday, coming away with a 34-0 victory at the Georgia Dome. With the victory over the defending Super Bowl champions, Atlanta is now 12-2 on the season.

Coming off a loss to Carolina a week ago, Atlanta burst out of the gates on Sunday. The Falcons' defense picked off Eli Manning on the first series of the game, and Michael Turner opened the scoring on the Falcons' fourth offensive play. A touchdown pass from Matt Ryan to Tony Gonzalez gave the home team a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Atlanta added to the lead with a pair of Ryan touchdown passes to Julio Jones in the second half.

James Rael from SB Nation's Atlanta blog, The Falcoholic, called it "a statement win, if I've ever seen one." Rael praised Ryan's performance as well as the defense, writing:

Matt Ryan looked like an MVP candidate in the Falcons' 34-0 drubbing of the Giants. He was incredibly efficient, completing 23 of his 28 passes.

That said, I'd be remiss if I didn't give the defense some credit. We picked off Manning twice. If you're keeping track, note that we've picked off Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Eli Manning a combined 9 times this year. Not too shabby, if you ask me.
