Week 16 Opening Odds: NFL Lines include 5 double-digit point spreads

Favorites will have a tougher time covering spreads in Week 16, as the NFL opening lines see five games with double digit spreads. Check out the opening Week 16 odds.

A week after favorites went 10-6 ATS, oddsmakers have put up some huge spreads for favorites to cover in Week 16.

Five games saw opening point spreads of 10 points or more, although a few were bet down to -9.5 within a day. Among them, the Patriots are the biggest chalk (-15.5) on the road at Jacksonville. It's a big number considering their erratic play in the Week 15 loss to San Francisco.

Green Bay was favored by 13 against Tennessee, which plays on a short week after winning the Monday Nighter and Denver was -14 at home to Cleveland.

Elsewhere, Carolina was a surprise double-digit favorite at home to Oakland and Houston was -10 at home to Minnesota. That is a huge number given that the Vikings remain thick in the playoff hunt and have Adrian Peterson running wild.

The week opens Thursday with the Falcons favored at Detroit. The Odds Shark picks computer has Atlanta winning easily here.

In the MNF special, the Seahawks and 49ers battle in Seattle in a game that remained a PK at most sportsbooks tracked by OddsShark.com as of Tuesday.
