Chargers place Ryan Mathews, Malcom Floyd, Reggie Wells on IR

The Chargers’ running back broke his clavicle again, only this time on the opposite side.

The San Diego Chargers placed running back Ryan Mathews, wide receiver Malcom Floyd and Reggie Wells on the injury reserved list with various injuries Tuesday afternoon, Kevin Acee of U-T San Diego reported on Tuesday.

Mathews has another broken clavicle and will miss the final two weeks of the season with an injury similar to the one that forced him to miss the first two weeks of the season. Mathews fractured his right collarbone in the preseason this year, but this time he fractured the left side.

Floyd’s injury comes as a bit more of a surprise. Bolts From the Blue wasn’t aware that Floyd had been diagnosed with a bum ankle, although they suggest that, with the Chargers’ season just two weeks away from completion, San Diego might be putting him on the IR to avoid reinjuring his ankle.

The San Diego Chargers signed Wells after the Buffalo Bills released him earlier this year. The 6'4, 318-pound lineman was placed on the IR list with an ankle and toe injury.
