Jets exploring Mark Sanchez trade, signing Vick, per report

The Jets have apparently run out of patience with Mark Sanchez, and will attempt to trade the quarterback in the offseason. If he’s released by the Eagles, Michael Vick may be targeted as a replacement.

The New York Jets will reportedly look into trading quarterback Mark Sanchez in the offseason, according to the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta. The former first-round pick has not developed as the team had hoped, and was recently benched for third-stringer Greg McElroy for their upcoming game against the San Diego Chargers.

Sanchez completed only 54.8 percent of his passes this season, and has thrown 17 interceptions and fumbled 12 times compared to 13 touchdowns. Head coach Rex Ryan stuck with Sanchez for most of the season, despite calls to replace him with backup quarterback Tim Tebow. However, it appears that the team's patience with Sanchez has finally run out.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is supposedly a potential option to replace Sanchez in New York. Most expect the Eagles to release Vick after the season, and the Jets think he could be a better fit with them than he was this past year in Philly. Ryan, who is not a lock to return for next season either, is reportedly a big fan of Vick's.
