With Tim Tebow healing from a rib injury, they were without the player who brought about so much quarterback controversy for New York this year. In a short period of time, however, McElroy started his own QB battle.

Let’s start with Sanchez, and take a look at why the Jets’ starting quarterback was benched:

The statistics really speak for themselves. When you complete less than 50-percent of your passes, and throw it to the other team a third as often as your own team, it definitely warrants being pulled from the game. Now let’s take a look at his replacement, McElroy, in the first regular season action of his career:
Greg McElroy: 5/7, 29 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT -- 118.5 rating
There’s nothing impressive about throwing for 29 yards on seven attempts, but based on the QB play the Jets have had this year, any time you have a quarterback who isn’t turning it over, it’s a good thing. Now we wait to see what happens if Tebow is healthy this week.
