NFL odds and lines Week 16: Raiders vs. Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are expected to keep rolling against the AFC West after a rout of the San Diego Chargers in Week 15.

USA TODAY Sports

After a convincing win against the San Diego Chargers on the road, the Carolina Panthers will head home to take on another AFC West opponent in the Oakland Raiders. The Panthers are 9.5-point favorites, according to OddsShark.

Carolina holds the edge in nearly every major statistical category, but haven’t fared well at home against the spread this season, going 2-5. The team is 7-7 overall ATS, but should be able to turn things around in that regard, considering the opponent.

Oakland hasn’t fared much better on the road, going 2-4 against the spread. The bettors are giving the edge to Carolina by a margin of 63 percent to 37 percent, due to the dismal state of the Raiders. For the over-under, smart money seems to be headed in the direction of the over by a slight 53-47 margin.

The toughest test for Oakland to cover will be their anemic rushing attack. That unit has been in disarray over the course of the season, as Darren McFadden has dealt with injuries and the Raiders have had to play from behind. Given those circumstances and the Panthers' balanced attack, Carolina should have no issues at home.

Will they cover? Carolina is expected to cover against Oakland after showing signs of life in Week 15 against a better team.
