There are still three playoff spots up for grabs in the NFC with a few hours left in Week 16. The Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks are currently slotted in as the two Wild Cards, and the Washington Redskins are on top of the NFC East. However, none of those teams have clinched playoff berths yet. The New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and Dallas Cowboys are all on the outside looking in for Wild Card berths.
NFC playoff picture 2012: NFC Wild Card spots still up for grabs
The Atlanta Falcons are the only team in the NFC that knows where they’ll be when the playoffs begin, and there are still a group of teams in the hunt for Wild Card spots.
The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks will face off on Sunday night at CenturyLink Field, and the 49ers could clinch the NFC West with a win. A Seattle win means the division will go down to the final week, with the loser more than likely claiming one of the Wild Card spots.
The Atlanta Falcons clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs on Saturday night, when they defeated the Detroit Lions 31-18. The Green Bay Packers have clinched the NFC North, but are still up in the air regarding seeding. The Falcons are the only team in the NFC that knows their seeding prior to Week 17.
