Oakland Raiders' defensive tackle Tommy Kelly admitted post-game that he was gunning for Carolina Panthers' quarterback Cam Newton on Sunday.

Early on Sunday's game Raiders' quarterback Carson Palmer was injured on a blindside hit by defensive end Greg Hardy. Oakland's quarterback was unable to return, leading to a chippy game from both sides that saw 16 accepted penalties, and several more that were left declined. Following the 16-7 loss, Raiders' defensive tackle Tommy Kelly admitted that he was looking to hurt Cam Newton. Speaking to the media Kelly said:

“You take our guy out, we’re going to go and try to take your guy out.”

The additional attention got under Cam Newton’s skin, as the quarterback who looked poised for the last two months lost his composure. Tommy Kelly was on the receiving end of a kick in the first half, and in the second half Newton bumped a referee while lobbying for what he perceived to be another personal foul.

Whether it’s admitting an intent to injury, or bumping an official -- there’s a good chance both Cam Newton and Tommy Kelly will be hearing from the league offices.
