Colts vs. Chiefs 2012: No matter how good Jamaal Charles is, they’re still the Chiefs

Jamaal Charles had a monster day, but it didn’t matter as the Chiefs fell to the Colts.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

When your running back tops 200 yards and his backup runs for 100 of his own, you usually win. Unfortunately for the Kansas City Chiefs, logic and normal things don't apply to them. Despite a monster day by Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis, the Chiefs lost to the Indianapolis Colts 20-13 to continue a very Chief-y season.

Such spectacular losses are not exactly rare in Kansas City, but they sure are getting old. Just ask Arrowhead Pride’s Joel Thorman.

Jamaal Charles is the story of the day though as he passed 200 yards by the third quarter. Charles ended with 226 yards and his teammate, Peyton Hillis, passed 100 yards rushing, too, giving the Chiefs over 352 yards rushing on the day.

All that and the Chiefs still scored just one touchdown -- an 86-yard run by Charles.

I consider those stats to sum up the life of a Chiefs fan.

The life of a Chiefs fan is awfully depressing. On the plus side, they might earn the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft as a reward for such a depressing season. They still have to hold off the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are also 2-13, but maybe, just maybe, that would make up for some of this season's nonsense. Who knows, in the next couple years 300+ yard rushing games might actually result in wins.
