Green Bay Packers vs Minnesota Vikings betting odds, preview, trends, pick

Adrian Peterson has motivation, the Packers have motivation to claim the No. 2 seed in the NFC. Check out the Vikings vs Packers betting odds preview.

USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers are 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS over their last 10 games and can earn a first round bye with a win this Sunday on the road against the Minnesota Vikings at the Metrodome.

Green Bay was a 3-point road favorite at most sportsbooks.

After getting off to a 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS start (helped along by the replacement ref debacle in Seattle), many believed it just wasn’t Green Bay’s year this year. But Aaron Rodgers and company had no intention of folding.

With a 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS run including a current stretch of 4-0 SU and ATS, the Packers have clinched the NFC North and look poised for a deep playoff run. With a win over Minnesota Sunday, Green Bay would lock up the 2-seed in the NFC and the first round bye that comes with it.

Adrian Peterson has been dominating the headlines in his quest for history, needing only 102 rushing yards this week to reach 2000 on the season and 208 to break Eric Dickerson’s all-time single-season record of 2,105.

Thanks in large part to Peterson’s efforts, the Vikings are 3-0 SU and ATS over their last three games and can clinch a playoff spot with an upset over the Green Bay Packers this Sunday. The Vikings are 9-6 SU and 7-7-1 ATS on the season.

Green Bay is 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in its last five games against the Minnesota Vikings and 10-3 SU and 9-4 ATS in its last 13 games against the Vikings. The Packers are also 5-0 SU and ATS in five games against divisional opponents this season. The total has gone OVER in seven of the last nine meetings between these two NFC North rivals.

Despite Adrian Peterson’s 210 rushing yards the last time these two teams met, Green Bay came out on top 23-14 in Green Bay. Both of these teams enter the game hot and motivated, but in a game that will likely come down to the fourth quarter we have to lean towards Aaron Rodgers to make the big plays down the stretch over Christian Ponder.

Pick: Green Bay -3.0
