Richard Sherman ‘randomly’ drug tested Thursday

On the day Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman won an appeal against a four-game suspension for a failed drug test, he was “randomly tested.”

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was "randomly selected" to take a drug test on Thursday, the same day he won an appeal for a four-game suspension because of a past drug test, according to the Tacoma News Tribune's Eric Williams:

Sherman was cleared Thursday after testing positive for Adderall, and he announced the NFL’s decision via Twitter. The news comes a day after Sherman was left off the Pro Bowl roster despite his 61 tackles and seven interceptions for the Seahawks this season.

Yahoo! reports that Sherman’s positive test was thrown out after an investigation found that the person testing Sherman put a leaking urine cup with Sherman’s sample in another cup that could have been contaminated. That violated protocol for what could be considered a fair test.

Sherman met with NFL officials to discuss his appeal last Friday.

Seattle teammate Brandon Browner was suspended for a banned substance that was also reported as Adderall. Browner accepted the four-game suspension and will be able to return for the playoffs.
