Mike Wallace injury: Steelers WR out for Week 17

Mike Wallace is not expected to play in Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns. In his four-year NFL career, the wideout has never missed a game.

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace will not play in Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns, according to Mike Bires. He had previously been listed as questionable because of a hip strain he suffered last weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Although the wideout has been unable to practice all week, many suspected that he would still be able to play on Sunday. In his four-year NFL career, Wallace has never missed a game.

If he does not play on Sunday, Wallace will end the season with 64 receptions, 836 yards, and eight touchdowns. The yardage is Wallace’s lowest total since his rookie year (2009). His yards-per-catch average (13.1) is a career low.

Still, Wallace leads the Steelers in receiving yards, touchdowns, and had the team's longest reception of the season (82 yards against the Tennessee Titans). In Wallace's absence, Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders should see increased looks. Wallace will likely become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, so it is possible that Steelers fans have seen the last of "60 Minutes."
