Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Nick Foles has been named the team's starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, according to an announcement made by head coach Andy Reid on Monday afternoon.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has named Nick Foles the team’s starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. Michael Vick apparently fully understands the decision.

Foles has acted as the team's starting quarterback since Michael Vick sustained a concussion in the team's Week 10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. In the subsequent weeks, Vick has failed to pass the league-mandated protocol to be cleared to play.
With Philadelphia currently in the midst of an 8-game losing streak, the team has no chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Reid stated on Monday that given the circumstances, Foles would have an opportunity to gain valuable experience by starting. The coach added that Vick fully understood why Foles was being named the starter.
Foles was originally chosen with the No. 88 overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Eagles. In four games played this season (three starts), the rookie quarterback has completed 81-133 passes for 793 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.
