Redskins edge Giants on Monday Night Football, 17-16

Mara’s comments about the Redskins getting off easy for cap violations were used as pregame motivational fodder. What better way to fire up pro football players than by reminding them someone wanted to limit Snyder’s ability to write checks for free agents.

Snyder’s probably fine with Jerry Jones.

How does Washington crash the party? What happens in a wild NFC East? There is another month left in the season to answer that question.

The Redskins have two paths to the playoffs. Mike Shanahan can either win the division or claim the other Wild Card, the one that’s not the consolation prize in the NFC North. Seattle and Chicago currently own the two Wild Card spots in the NFC.

Cruz went beyond 100 yards receiving for the first time since racking up 131 yards in Week 7 during the Giants’ first meeting against the Redskins. He was held without a touchdown for the fourth time in five games.

Fantasy Impact: Cruz looked somewhat like his former self. He began the season on pace for an outstanding fantasy season, but has gone cold since about the midpoint. Let’s hope Eli Manning’s improved play over the last two weeks will mean good things for Cruz through the end of the regular season.

Bennett’s previous high was 79 yards in the Giants’ first meeting against the Redskins in Week 7. He has already set a career-high with 44 receptions for 537 yards this season. He needs one more trip to the end zone to set a career mark for touchdowns.

Fantasy Impact: Bennett has been a decent low-end starting tight end in fantasy this season. He is a good bet to receive four or five catches, making him a good option for PPR leagues even though his yardage numbers aren’t always stellar.

The Redskins scored their first points of the game when Griffin scrambled on a quarterback option and fumbled the ball right into the arms of Joshua Morgan.

Morgan then rushed 15 yards into the end zone to put the Redskins ahead, 7-3, with 4:16 remaining in the first quarter.

Locklear is 6’4 and 301 pounds. Losing him would be tough as it would any offensive tackle that can start.

There was a scrum after Morris’ fumble on the field. Montgomery hopped in the pile late and Joseph began to pull his leg. Montgomery kicked at him. Joseph responded by picking up his leg as if he was going to kick him, and then dropped it.

There was the Suh stomp on Thanksgiving day last year. He was suspended two games for it. This wasn’t as flagrant as that but both players are lucky they weren’t ejected. Montgomery was probably the worst offender, with the only kick that connected. Joseph started it by pulling on Montgomery’s leg like a wishbone and began to retaliate with a kick but thought twice at the last second.

The slow zoom-in really makes it. Kudos, camera operator.

The Redskins did good acquiring their rookies this year.
