Martellus Bennett impresses fantasy owners on Monday Night Football
Martellus Bennett had five receptions for a season-high 82 yards and a touchdown during the Giants’ loss to the Eagles on Monday Night Football. We break down the fantasy implications.
He was targeted seven times on the night, behind Hakeem Nicks (10 targets) and Victor Cruz (eight targets). No other Giant had more than two targets.
Bennett’s previous high was 79 yards in the Giants’ first meeting against the Redskins in Week 7. He has already set a career-high with 44 receptions for 537 yards this season. He needs one more trip to the end zone to set a career mark for touchdowns.
Fantasy Impact: Bennett has been a decent low-end starting tight end in fantasy this season. He is a good bet to receive four or five catches, making him a good option for PPR leagues even though his yardage numbers aren’t always stellar.
He deserves starting consideration above all but the top-tier of tight ends next week, facing a bad New Orleans Saints defense in what could be a shootout. Eli Manning appears to be over his pre-bye week struggles, thankfully.
