Titus Young not part of the Lions right now

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz says wide receiver Titus Young is “not part of the wide receiver mix,” and that he’s “not with the team right now.”

The Detroit Lions are in a bind with their wide receiver situation, but don't expect them to turn to second-year receiver Titus Young. According to Brad Galli of WXYZ-TV, Schwartz said that Young will "not be part of the wide receiver mix," when it comes to setting the depth chart in the wake of Ryan Broyles' torn ACL.

Schwartz followed that up by saying, “He’s not with the team right now.” Those are strong words, and it calls into question Young’s future with the franchise as a whole. Young has had plenty of trouble off the field, but its the trouble he brings into the locker room and onto the field that really has the Lions upset.

Young was asked not to come to Ford Field on Sunday, as the Lions lost to the Colts. He was benched for the final series in a loss to the Packers in November after he purposely lined up in the wrong spot on the field, and was sent home from practice the next day. He was deactivated for the Thanksgiving game against the Texans, as well.

Instead of Young, the Lions will be going with Mike Thomas to effectively be the team's No. 2 receiver behind Calvin Johnson.
