Browns vs. Steelers 2012: Cleveland fights hard, still loses

The Cleveland Browns finish the 2012 season at 5-11 and in last place in the AFC North.

The Cleveland Browns put the finishing touches on yet another disappointing season, falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 24-10.

Led by Thaddeus Lewis at the quarterback position, the Browns hung tight with the Steelers until late when Ben Roethlisberger put the game away with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress. Lewis passed for 204 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Browns turned the ball over four times on the day, including three times on fumbles.

Chris Pokorny of SB Nation’s Cleveland Browns blog, Dawgs by Nature, writes that turnovers and unforced errors wasted what was otherwise a well played game for the Browns.

The Browns didn’t go down without a fight of their own...Unfortunately, the difference in a 24-10 loss ended up being a couple of extracurricular plays / turnovers, including two fumbles by our wide receivers.

The loss drops the Browns to 5-11 and gives them the 6th pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, which will highlight an offseason that is sure to contain plenty of player and personnel changes. The Browns have finished in last place of the AFC North in four of the last five seasons.
