Ohio State Buckeyes assistant coach Bill Sheridan has been hired away by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, campus newspaper The Lantern reports. Sheridan was in Columbus as part of Urban Meyer's new coaching staff for just three weeks before moving back into the professional ranks.
Bill Sheridan Joins Tampa Bay Buccaneers Coaching Staff, According To Report
Bill Sheridan will leave Ohio State to take over defensive coordinator duties with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent just three weeks in Columbus before moving back into the professional ranks.
Sheridan will join up with Greg Schiano in Tampa Bay, yet another college football ex-patriot. He will take on defensive coordinator duties, a step up from being the Buckeyes' new defensive backs coach. He spent this past season coaching linebackers for the Miami Dolphins. Sheridan also spent one season as the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants in 2009.
The news shouldn’t affect the Buckeyes much, with National Signing Day freshly in the rearview mirror. Sheridan was known as a tenacious recruiter, though you probably could have guessed that from his association with Meyer.
