Brady Quinn Clarifies His Tim Tebow Comments In GQ Article
That's the case with Michael Silver's oral history of Tebow's 2011 season in an article for GQ. Silver quoted a number of coaches, teammates and other folks around the league about Tebow's rise, tracing the path from the quarterback's first start of the season against the Dolphins in Week 7 through the Broncos' divisional round playoff loss to the Patriots.
It's all pretty entertaining and worth a read. A few of the quotes that have gained some steam around the NFL world come from Denver backup quarterback Brady Quinn, including this one:
We’ve had a lot of, I guess, luck, to put it simply.
It’s hard to put that quote into context because it’s only one sentence (and that’s how it appeared in the story). Some people took this as Quinn slamming Tebow and, as we noted above, anytime a situation involves Tebow, you know it will also involve some drama.
Quinn’s comments gained so much traction that he felt compelled to take to Twitter and clarify his quotes.
The comments attributed to me in a recent magazine article are in NO WAY reflective of my opinion of Tim and the Broncos. Tim deserves a lot of credit for our success and I'm happy for him and what he accomplished. Most importantly, he is a great teammate. That interview was conducted three months ago, and the resulting story was a completely inaccurate portrayal of my comments. I have addressed my disappointment with the writer and have reached out to Tim to clear this up. I apologize to anyone who feels I was trying to take anything away from our Team's or Tim's success this season.
It’s doubtful Quinn will return to Denver next season. I also doubt he’ll mind missing out on the media circus that surrounds anything and everything related to Tim Tebow.
