Steelers TE Weslye Saunders Suspended Four Games

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Weslye Saunders has been suspended for four games by the NFL due to an undisclosed violation, according to a report.

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Weslye Saunders left South Carolina early to enter the 2011 NFL Draft. Saunders was a talented tight end, but had a wrap for some off the field issues while with the Gamecocks. Those issues were a big reason Saunders found himself undrafted, but his talent saw him make the Steelers roster and play in all 16 games as a rookie. Saunders won't be able to play in all 16 games in the 2012 season if he's on the Steelers or another NFL roster however, because he's been suspended by the NFL for four games according to a report by Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.

The reason for Saunders suspension has yet to be disclosed, but it could be a variety of different things. If Saunders tested positive for a banned performance enhancing drug, he’d have immediately received a four-game suspension. It’s possible Saunders is in the NFL’s drug program, as the first offense is a warning and generally isn’t made public, but the second offense results in a four-game suspension.
