Tom Brady’s Shoulder Injury Flared Up In The Super Bowl, According To Report

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots lost Super Bowl XLVI and it sounds like Brady was playing in some pain. Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald reports that Brady aggravated a previous shoulder sprain when he was sacked by Giants defensive lineman Justin Tuck during the Super Bowl.

Brady suffered the injury during the regular season and it cost him a little bit of practice time. Same goes for the week leading up to the AFC Championship game against the Ravens.

On the play in question -- video of it is here -- you can tell Brady’s right shoulder takes a pretty clean shot and then the shoulder in question on the left side has a few hundred pounds driving it into the ground. He’s a little slow to get up and looks like a guy that just took a big hit.

Shortly after that play, backup QB Brian Hoyer started warming up before Brady told him to sit back down. Considering his prior history with the injury, it makes sense that Brady would be in a lot of pain. He ended the game completing seven of his last 17 passes.

The injury isn’t anything long term -- it’s just a sprain. So he’s good to go this offseason.
