Torry Holt To Retire As A St. Louis Ram

The St. Louis Rams will sign Torry Holt so that he can retire as a member of the franchise.

The St. Louis Rams will sign free agent wide receiver Torry Holt. As much as the team could use a wide receiver, Holt will not be on hand to compete for a starting job. Instead, the Rams will sign Holt so that he can retire as a member of the team.

News of the Holt signing was first reported by Tony Softli of 101 ESPN in St. Louis and confirmed to SB Nation by the Rams. The move mirrors the Rams' trade for Isaac Bruce in 2010 so that the franchise's all-time receiving leader could retire in that uniform.

Holt, the Rams’ first-round pick in 1999, is right behind Bruce for the Rams’ receiving records. He is second in receiving yards, touchdowns and catches.

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Holt in 2009, which turned out to be his last season in the league. The Patriots signed him in 2010, but he ended up on injured reserve. They released him before the season started that year.
