Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf's name has been bandied about for years as one of the greatest first-round draft busts in the history of the league. The former Washington St. Cougars star signed a huge contract before flaming out spectacularly. Following his pro career, Leaf ran into personal issues and ran afoul of the law in 2009 on burglary charges and was placed on 10 years probation.

Kimball Bennion of Great Falls Tribune, by way of Brian Floyd at CougCenter, reports that Leaf was arrested in Great Falls on Friday. Here are the details of the arrest available at this time:

Ex-NFL quarterback and Great Falls native Ryan Leaf was arrested on burglary, theft and drug charges, according to officials at the Cascade County Detention Center.

Leaf was arrested at about 1 p.m. He is charged with felony burglary, misdemeanor theft and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

This second arrest could be very bad news indeed for Leaf. We will provide more details as they become available.
