Longtime New England Patriots left tackle Matt Light was recently asked whether he plans to retire this year and he didn't say much, leading to the speculation that he could hang 'em up.

Speculate no more. According to Pro Football Talk, Light will retire.

This caps an impressive career for the former 2001 draft pick. Light has been the primary starter at left tackle for the Patriots over the last 11 years. He started at least 15 games in eight of those 11 seasons. He is one of only a handful of Patriots players who have been on the team for all of the Super Bowls over the last decade.

2011 first round pick Nate Solder will likely replace Light. The Patriots could now be in the market for an offensive tackle in the 2012 NFL draft, which is probably a reason why they would've preferred this news not get out before April 26.
