Dolphins pass rusher Cameron Wake has agreed to a four-year, $49 million extension, according to multiple reports.

After starting his career in the Canadian Football League, the veteran pass rusher has really come on for the Dolphins, starting 30 of 32 games over the past two seasons. He’s recorded 22.5 sacks over that span and was set to make $615,000 this year in the final season of a four-year contract.
Wake had been unhappy with that contract and was absent from the start of Miami’s voluntary offseason workouts, but later met with new coach Joe Philbin and joined the team at the end of April. According to La Canfora, his new deal includes $20 million in guaranteed money. The deal sets him up to be the Dolphins’ primary pass rusher for the next few years, anchoring the defense on the outside.

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Wake has rejoined the team for conditioning workouts this week.
The two sides will continue to work toward a long-term contract extension. Since debuting with the Dolphins in 2009, Wake has 122 tackles, 28 sacks and four forced fumbles.
