The Washington Redskins spent two of their first three picks in the 2012 NFL Draft on quarterbacks -- Baylor's Robert Griffin III in the 1st round and Michigan State's Kirk Cousins in the 4th round. With enough quarterbacks on the roster, the Redskins no longer need John Beck, and they have released him, according to NFL Network.
Redskins Reportedly Cut John Beck Before NFL Draft Is Over
The Redskins didn’t bother to wait until the end of the NFL Draft to release John Beck.

It’s a little strange that they would release him in the middle of the 5th round of the NFL Draft, but it’s clear they were moving on from him.
Beck was originally a second round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 2007 NFL Draft. He joined the Redskins last year, going 0-3 as a starter. For his career, he's completed 58 percent of his passes for three touchdowns and seven interceptions.
