Detroit Lions running back Mikel LeShoure is facing felony charges for his March 12 arrest for marijuana possession. According to the Detroit Free Press, LeShoure's felony charges stem from the fact that he was arrested twice within the span of four weeks for marijuana possession.
Lions’ Mikel Leshoure Faces Felony Marijuana Charge
LeShoure was arrested on Feb. 18 in Berrien County, Mich., for possession. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge for using marijuana and received a $485 fine. LeShoure failed to show up for an April 2 arraignment, citing confusion about the date of the hearing. No warrant for LeShoure’s arrest has been issued, according to the report.
The second-year running back could face up to two years in prison for the felony charge. LeShoure could also face punishment from the NFL. Under league rules, LeShoure could be subject to fines and up to a six-game suspension.
The Lions selected LeShoure, an Illinois product, in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He missed his entire rookie season with a torn Achilles tendon.
