Tim Tebow Renames Dog In Shameless Attempt To Pander To Jets Fans

Tim Tebow is no stranger to raising eyebrows, making headlines and spurring furious debate, both on and off the field.

His recent relocation from starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos to backup (for now) quarterback of the New York Jets is something you've already been heading about for months and will continue to hear about ... probably forever. A tidbit of Tebow news (or TidBowNew) has sprung up on Tuesday and we here at SB Nation are happy to throw another log on the bonfire of debate.

Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post reports:

Bronx! Where the Jets don’t play.

Renaming dogs, while unorthodox, is certainly nothing new. Many shelter animals are renamed by new owners, for example. But this is certainly the first instance of a quarterback using their pet to create a transparent show of support for their team -- twice! That poor, poor dog.

If this keeps up, over the next five or so seasons, this dog will likely have any number of names. “Frisco,” “Jackson,” “Dolphin the Dog,” “Waivers,” etc.

So what do you think, everyone? Are you howling mad at what Tebow has done? Do you think this is a ruff thing to do to a dog? Do you have a bone to pick with the Jets QB? We may be barking up the wrong tree with this one, but changing your dog’s name on a whim seems unnecessary at best and borderline-cruel at worst. Weigh in by voting in our poll and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Also, I will wager good money that Tebow just calls his dog “boy” all the time, regardless what his dog’s “name” is supposed to be.
