Calais Campbell’s Contract From Cardinals Is Worth $55 Million

On Thursday, the Arizona Cardinals announced that they had agreed to terms on a new five-year contract with defensive end Calais Campbell. Campbell had been coming off a career year in 2011 and the team was eager to lock him up for the long term.

Jason La Canfora reported that the deal will be worth $55 million, but the contract is front-loaded, with $36 million of that contract coming in the first three years.

Tyler Nickel from Revenge of the Birds broke down the details of the contract and what it means not only for Campbell, but for the team at large. Given the money that Mario Williams was able to get during the offseason, it appears as though Campbell took less than he potentially could have made by taking a contract that was front-loaded.
