Seahawks QB Competition Will Go On For A While

The Seattle Seahawks seem to have a three-way battle for the starting quarterback competition, after an impressive first look at rookie Russell Wilson.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was one of the most prolific quarterbacks in college football during his career, but not many expected him to be drafted very highly. Many draft experts doubted his size to play the position in the NFL, but felt a team would take a chance on Wilson's strong ability and intangibles.

The Seahawks drafted Wilson in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft, and he’s already making some waves in practice.

“He showed us enough,” Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters Sunday. “He’s in the competition. That is going to tax us, as we know, and it was already going to be taxing with two. But he’s showed us enough that we need to see where he fits in with these guys.”

The other quarterbacks that Wilson will be competing with are returning starter Tarvaris Jackson and Matt Flynn, who was signed in NFL free agency this offseason to a three-year, $19.5 million contract.
