St. Louis Rams Stadium Proposal Revealed

The Rams’ plan for the Dome includes a comprehensive makeover that would tear down and rebuild the east side of the facility. The plan includes an expansion of premium seating along with changes to concessions and common areas in and around the stadium. An “operable roof panel” would allow ventilation and natural light, but it is not a retractable roof that was reported last week. The spelled out its intention to remake the Dome into a facility capable of hosting a wide variety of events and conventions, as well as Super Bowl.

There was no cost estimate attached the to the Rams’ plan. The responsibility for calculating that falls on the CVC, as well making determinations about the team and public share of the costs.

Negotiations are now focused on making the Edward Jones Dome into what the lease describes as a “first tier” facility. If the two sides cannot agree to renovation plan that meets that vague requirement, the team is free to leave in March 2015.

The CVC presented a $124 million plan that added some premium seats and other improvements. The Rams rejected that offer and delivered their counter proposal on May 1. At the time, the information was ticketed to remain confidential, but a dispute over Sunshine Law requests attracted the attention of the state’s attorney general, who released from his office.

If the Rams and the CVC cannot agree to a renovation plan by June 15, the issue heads for arbitration. They have until the end of the year to reach an agreement in the non-binding process.

The team released a statement on Monday afternoon saying that they would make no statement regarding the Dome proposal.
